San Francisco Bay Area Camping Options
San Francisco: alive, bustling, eclectic, beautiful. This city has something for everyone to love with all of its individual neighborhoods each filled with so much character and unique experiences. Staying at Encore’s San Francisco campgrounds makes this all the more accessible to you and your family.
North Beach is a fun and tourist-filled part of town with to-die-for Italian food and cafés, busy well into the night. Coit Tower and the magnificent views that come with it (the Bay Bridge, downtown, Pacific Heights, the Golden Gate Bridge) are worth the twisting drive up or hilly walk up. Make your way to this neighborhood and good luck finding parking!
Right next to the famed North Beach neighborhood is Chinatown which abuts downtown and the Financial District. Inviting smells of dim sum and fresh seafood waft down the streets of this district as you walk around the innumerable shops that
line the crowded streets. Step into this neighborhood and be surprised that you are
even still in San Francisco!
Golden Gate Park (larger even than New York’s Central Park) has man-made lakes all throughout and, closer to Ocean Beach, a field of bison. Enjoy the endless bike trails and nature trails as well as the De Young Museum and the California Academy
of Sciences which has an indoor rain forest and a living roof.
The less-visited and colorful Mission District is a foodie’s delight with new and exciting restaurants opening seemingly every week. Enjoy the best weather the city has to offer and sun in Dolores Park, sharing it with hula-hoopers and pop-up live
performances. The nightlife in the Mission is characterized by hip bars and even hipper natives with fresh and authentic Mexican food galore.
Union Square, Ghirardelli Square, and Pier 39 are popular tourist destinations famous for their shopping and sight-seeing opportunities. During the winter an ice rink is even set up in Union Square alongside a bedecked Christmas tree. Ghirardelli
Square offers up its famous chocolate and delicious chocolate concoctions and Pier 39 is where Boudin Bread serves up its famous sourdough and visitors can spot the sea lions lounging in the sun.
